The Tailgators

Een drietal muzikanten dat al jaren samen speelt in de top 100 band "The Check". Vanwege hun gezamenlijke voorliefde voor akoestische instrumenten en authentieke muziek besloten ze deze overwegend akoestische band op te richten. De koers die "The Tailgators" kiezen wordt sterk bepaald door hun eigen muzikale smaak, maar wordt zeker beďnvloed door wat het publiek horen wil.
Op een podium in een café, wandelend tussen het publiek op een bedrijfsfeest en zelfs in een garage tijdens een familiefeest speelt de 3-koppige band een mix van ballads, rock & roll , folk, bluegrass, blues en country van artiesten zoals Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Beatles, Ry Cooder, Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Johnny Cash, J.J. Cale en nog vele andere artiesten. Het repertoire en de wijze waarop het door "The Tailgators" gespeeld wordt, zorgt bij velen voor het oppoetsen van de herinnering! "The Tailgators" zijn Jan (Gitaar, Banjo & achtergrondzang), Frans (Bas & achtergrondzang) en Dirk (Zang, Gitaar & Mandoline). Zie ook www.tailgators.nl
In verband met de verbouwing van de muziektent was ook deze keer het optreden in Wijkcentrum de Enk.

Tailgators in Zwolle Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday, The Tailgators played their first public venue in their hometown Zwolle. We've played a lot in the 5 or 6 years that we exist but always at private parties or outside of Zwolle. Most people we're unaware of the music we play and the fact that the Tailgators exist… I mean, in our hometown… That's a real public relations screw-up when you come to think about it. Yesterday we played in "De Enk" , located in the middle of the "Assendorp" neighborhood which is the most artistic neighborhood in Zwolle. It has a relatively young population and the political orientation is mostly progressive and leftist. And that's a pretty odd audience for the "Tailgators". We usually play at garden parties, corporate meetings , your odd wedding and anniversary where usually a considerable amount of Euro's is thrown at the party. People really seemed to like the music we played and wanted to talk to us afterwards and tell us how much they liked it and some even came with repertoire suggestions. I guess what really set us apart was the use of different instruments like resonator guitars, mandolin and Banjo. Some people asked why we didn't have a double-bass. The answer is simple… Our bass-player came with his three daughters and he couldn't fit the double-bass in the car….

Hoi Wilco,
Mooie foto's die je van ons genomen hebt op de 14e in de Enk. Zou je mij een paar kunnen opsturen en mogen ze eventueel op onze site gebruiken? Zou ik heel erg leuk vinden. Een en ander natuurlijk onder vermelding van alle auteursgegevens. Ere wie ere toekomt!
